Scalpers are a huge problem within the community of Magic the Gathering and their main focus is to buy up a limited supply, high demand product to oversale on a secondary website such as eBay.
Why the constant editions of Secret lairs is hurting MTG!
The constant Secret Lair drops is hurting the community of Magic the Gathering. A good example of this is the by product of limited supply products that the Lairs have. When Wizards of the Coast announced the secret lair of Marvel drop it immediately got a bunch of backlash due to it going to be in limited supply. The drop when live on November 4th, 2024 and within a couple of hours it was completely sold out. The Scalpers bought multiple products from this drop just to oversale them on a secondary website like eBay and Facebook Marketplace. The product released at the price of $50 and was instantly being sold on eBay for $150+ (reference photos below).

Limited Supply with High Demand
Wizards of the Coast recently released a Marvel secret lair drop with custom cards. It immediately got a huge following which caused the community to want the product. The only problem with this is that MTG purposely printed a low amount causing huge backlash for MTG.
